Carbon Dioxide
Carbon dioxide fire extinguisher
Carbon dioxide fire extinguishers are used for electrical fires and are effective on Class B (flammable liquids) fires. Carbon dioxide can be used on Class B fires such as petrol and diesel.
Foam
Foam fire extinguisher
Water and foam fire extinguishers are used for Class A fires (solids) from wood, paper, textiles. Foam extinguishers are for Class A fires only - they should not be used on electrical fires or fires involving flammable liquids.
Dry Chemical
Dry chemical fire extinguishers
Dry chemical fire extinguishers are used by interrupting the chemical reaction of fire. Today's widely used multipurpose dry chemical is effective on Class A, B and C fires. It is important to know that it will leave a residue.
Dry Powder
Dry powder fire extinguisher
Dry powder extinguishers are similar to dry chemical except they work by smothering the fire by separating the fuel from the oxygen. However, dry powder extinguishers are messy and may not be appropriate for use in enclosed spaces. They are also suitable for Class D and other classes of fire.

Clean agents provide rapid fire suppression while being safe for occupied areas.
